Rezanje troškova može dovesti do optimizacije poslovanja ali kao i svako nespretno baratanje oštrim predmetima može dovesti do ozbiljnih oštećenja ili iskrvarenja. Mnoge hrvatske i svjetske izdavačke kuće mislile su da je rješenje upravo u rezanju troškova. Danas nakon nešto godina rezanja u gorem su stanju nego ikada. Kylie Davis, koju ovdje citiram, u svom postu upozorava da ova strategija ne daje rezultate. Možda je vrijeme za neke druge strategije…

Ona kaže da su glavni resursi  novina upravo ljudi jer „The best newspapers hold mirrors up to their communities and reflect back the positive and negative with a soft eye of understanding that comes from belonging. Newspapers that judge from afar simply lose readers and die.“
